Wetware & CodeIn the subterranean ruins of BUoY Art Center, formerly a space of communal rituals, Tingqi Liu constructs a new, unsettling civilization. Watware & Code is a part of exhibition “喪失と再生のアートラボ ” and also a bio-political installation that utilizes live ant colonies to model the vulnerability of individual consciousness in the digital age.
Location: BUoY Art Center

Using a composition of compliant-sized acrylic panels and 3D printing technology, Tingqi creates a controlled environment for ant inhabitants. The installation consists of 16 square devices, each deploying specific "information decoys" to engineer the colony's behavior—dictating patterns of gathering, dispersal, and escape.

Against the backdrop of BUoY’s peeling concrete walls, these micro-biological societies mirror our own. Just as the ants surrender to the engineered signals, human individuality is increasingly swallowed by the deluge of digital information. Kingdom exposes the fragility of free will, presenting a stark microcosm where the group is herded by invisible, well-designed hands.Wetware & Code
